I prefer, whenever possible, to use my imagination when starting a new work, playing with the paint until the picture begins to emerge, using palette knives allows me the freedom to create loose strokes capturing movement and texture.

I am very fortunate to have at my disposal some of the most breathtaking coastline in the UK. Ever changing light and weather conditions provide the drama I seek to portray.

Building with layers of oils and refining with glazes allows me to create depth. The sea plays a very important part in my work and I am constantly endeavoring to paint the perfect storm.
